Randleman Planning Department
The City of Randleman experienced tremendous growth during the latter part of the 1900's. To help manage this growth the Board of Alderman and the City Manager instituted the Randleman Planning and Zoning Office. The Planning Director for the City of Randleman is Greg Patton.
The Planning and Zoning Department should be your first stop in the city if you are planning to develop, build, or make an addition to your property. The Planning Staff Director will assist in determining zoning, water & sewer availability, floodplain & watershed determination and addressing within the municipality.
If rezoning, variance, conditional and special use permits are required, the Planning Director will act as a liaison between the applicant and the Boards. The Planning and Zoning Board is made up of 12 appointed citizens who reside within the city and its Extra Territorial Zoning Jurisdiction (ETJ). The Planning & Zoning Board reviews all cases presented to them and makes a decision to approve or deny the request. Their recommendation is then forwarded to the Board of Aldermen for their vote. The Planning & Zoning Board meet on the third Monday of the month.
The Board of Adjustment hears Variance, Special & Conditional Use requests. They meet the third Monday of the month. The Board of Adjustment's decision is final and not forwarded to the Board of Aldermen. The Board of Aldermen hear zoning cases the first Tuesday of the month.
The Planning Department is also responsible for Code Enforcement within the municipality. This includes minimum housing requirements, and condemnations in conjunction with the Randleman Inspections Department. The Planning Director issues zoning permits and reviews plats.
Office hours for the Randleman Planning & Zoning Department are 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (EST) Monday thru Friday.
